MEDALS Token

MEDALS is Sportsblock's native community token, built on Hive Engine — a smart contract layer on top of the Hive blockchain. While HIVE and HBD are the main currencies you earn from content upvotes, MEDALS adds a Sportsblock-specific reward layer that recognises and incentivises active community members.

Think of MEDALS as the reward token for the Sportsblock ecosystem. Great content, accurate predictions and contest wins earn MEDALS. Staked MEDALS earn a 10% APR, paid weekly, and count towards staking tiers.

MEDALS is a tradeable Hive Engine token. You can hold it, stake it for rewards, or trade it on the Hive Engine decentralized exchange. Your tokens, your choice.

There are several ways to earn MEDALS on Sportsblock:

• Curator rewards. When a Sportsblock curator rewards your post or Sportsbite, you receive MEDALS, paid straight into your staked balance. One reward per post. Posts need the Sportsblock beneficiary to qualify.
• Monthly content prizes. Top content each month (most viewed, most engaged, most active commenter and more) wins a MEDALS prize.
• Predictions. Back the right outcome in a prediction market and share the losing pool. Every 8-win streak earns a 200 MEDALS bonus.
• Contests. Win MEDALS prizes in contests like Last Man Standing, Matchday Matrix and fantasy golf.
• Referrals. Invite a friend: they get a MEDALS welcome bonus, and you earn MEDALS once they post their first Sportsbite.
• Staking. Staked MEDALS earn a 10% APR, paid every week.

Staked MEDALS earn a 10% APR and place you in a staking tier. Tier badges are live; the other benefits arrive with Staking Tiers v2. Only MEDALS staked on your own account count (not delegated or unstaking MEDALS), and a new tier applies after the stake has been held for 7 days:

Staking is done through your wallet page. You can unstake at any time: unstaked MEDALS are released in 7 equal instalments over 28 days. Full details are in the whitepaper.

Staking your MEDALS is straightforward:

1. Navigate to your wallet.
2. Find your MEDALS balance in the Hive Engine tokens section.
3. Click "Stake" and enter the amount you want to stake.
4. Confirm the transaction through your wallet (Hive Keychain or managed signing).

Staked MEDALS start earning the weekly APR straight away. A new tier applies once the stake has been held for 7 days; dropping below a threshold removes the tier immediately.

Tip: You don't need to stake all your MEDALS at once. Many users stake gradually as they earn, watching their tier progress over time.

Staking rewards are a fixed 10% APR, paid every week. Each week, every staker earns their staked balance × 10% ÷ 52 — the same rate whatever your tier. You need at least 1 MEDALS staked, and founder accounts are excluded.

Rewards are deposited to your account automatically. Track the biggest stakers on the leaderboard.
