Crispy!

If you aren't lucky enough to live in the Midwest United States, you probably don't realize what you are missing this time of year. The middle of October is a time when the weather starts reminding you that Winter is right around the corner. It's not a bad thing (unless you like oppressive heat), it's actually one of my favorite times of year.
The days get a bit shorter, but if the weather is cooperating, you get brilliant sunny days with temperatures in the high 60's to low 70's, and nights that drag you into finally turning on the furnace with temps in the high 30 degree to low 40 degree range. Fahrenheit of course. There is a crispness to the air that is so strong you can almost feel it, taste it, and hear it. Dry leaves make a familiar scraping noise as they get blown across the pavement, and pumpkins, gourds, and squashes are everywhere.
There is a lot to love about fall in the Midwest, and of course one of the biggest things to love is Friday night and Saturday football.
Before we get to that though, let's talk about the World Series. That starts tonight, and I just realized today that this is a historic match up. Neither the Brewers nor the Rays have ever won a world series, so if you are planning on watching the games, you are going to be witnessing history. Pretty cool right?
That starts tonight at 8:00 PM EST if you are interested.
Meanwhile, there is a bunch of football on this weekend too.
Number 6 Indiana looks to rebound from their loss against Ohio State last weekend as they take on Michigan down in Ann Arbor. If I am hope, I will likely have this game on just so I can hopefully watch the Wolverines take another loss.
Honestly, as far as college football goes, it looks like it might be a pretty tame weekend. That doesn't mean we won't see some epic upsets like we have in past weeks, but for the first week in a while, we don't have too many big ranked vs ranked games. The two main ones are number 7 Mississippi taking on number 19 Texas, and number 14 Houston facing number 10 Utah.
Unfortunately, Michigan State is looking like they are going to take another loss as they head to California to take on number 9 UCLA. At this point, I think the Spartans season is pretty much done and if you are a fan like me the only thing you have to look forward to is the start of basketball season.
If you want to key in on a few possible upsets this weekend. Maybe check out the number 11 Tennessee at South Carolina game or the number 16 USC at Wisconsin game. Vegas seems to think those could be kind of close.
I would concur with that though I think the Volunteers will probably win their game. Whiskey on the other hand has proven to be a pretty good team this season.
