More than I thought

If you go back and look at my post from Friday of last week, I probably gave you the impression that there were going to be very few upset victories this past weekend in the world of college football. Turns out I was quite wrong about that. Of course, there are some games that went exactly the way you might have expected, but there were a few other games that didn't.
That's what makes life interesting though right?
In a wonderful way to start off my weekend, the number 6 Indiana vs Michigan game didn't turn out as an upset. It was close though. They had to take the game into overtime for Indiana to finally snag the 13 to 6 win over Michigan. The only solace I get from the fact that Michigan State is doing so poorly this year is that Michigan is also not doing that well.
Of course, they aren't all the way down at the bottom like the Spartans, but they are not doing great, so yeah.
Cincinnati was one of those teams that had a big day snagging a win over number 8 Texas Tech 37 to 24. The new number 1 team in the nation Miami had a huge 52 to 23 win over Pittsburgh. Another one of the big upsets of the weekend was South Carolina taking down number 11 Tennessee. I remember talking about that game specifically.
I don't really care too much about things that happen in the SEC, but this is a big loss for the Volunteers who were trying to fight their way into a favorable post season position. They are still far from out of the running, but this is just another notch against them.
Unfortunately, the Michigan State game wasn't an upset as I had hoped. They started out really good, then they just looked like absolute crap. State ended up losing the game against number 9 UCLA 28 to 10.
The other huge upset of the weekend was UCF over number 2 BYU 39 to 31 in double overtime. I didn't watch this game, but I have to believe it was pretty dang exciting.
Minnesota also had a big win this weekend taking down number 15 ranked Iowa 13 to 10 in a mostly defensive battle.
Number 19 Texas had a big rebound victory over number 7 Mississippi after losing that big game last weekend to Florida.
Finally, Wisconsin also had a big upset win over number 16 USC 24 to 7. It's too bad some of that midwest magic couldn't rub off onto Michigan State huh? The good news is, basketball season is right around the corner, and Michigan State is supposed to be pretty good this year.
Fingers crossed!
