Seasons Change

We are now two games into the college basketball season for the Michigan State Spartans and I am really excited about what lays ahead for the team. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch a single game yet. The first game was only on Big Ten Plus, and the second game was only on Peacock. Two streaming services that I do not pay for. @mrsbozz and I have been talking about trying to get tickets to one of their home games again this year, but I haven't looked into it too closely yet. Maybe I can do that later today.
Meanwhile, the volleyball team that my niece plays for has turned their season around and where they couldn't win in the beginning of the season, now it seems they can't lose.
Good timing...
They recently moved along to the next round of the their conference tournament and I wish them the best of luck moving forward. What a great story of perseverance and determination.
Meanwhile, this is a big weekend for college football.
While the Michigan/Michigan State game is the big ticket in my home state, I don't think the game holds as much weight this year as it usually does. Both teams are not doing that great. Neither one of them are ranked, and honestly for me, the game is little more than an afterthought.
That doesn't mean people won't be gathering to cheer on their favorite team, but for me it just doesn't hit quite as hard as it has in years past. The good news is, given how badly both teams suck, there is a better chance than average that Michigan State might come away with the victory this year.
If you don't care about that game, here are some other games you might want to check out this weekend.
Number 7 Texas vs. number 18 Missouri could be a good game in Missouri. Texas has proved they have some things to work on, and those things might come front and center on the road. I don't think this game is a gimme for the higher ranked team at all.
Number 9 BYU heads into Utah to take on number 3 Utah. That could be a good game. My money is on Utah. Probably the bigger game in the Big Ten this weekend is number 23 Oregon taking on number 12 Ohio State. The Ducks are going to be looking for retribution after their loss last weekend. Though the same could be true of the Ohio State squad.
In the SEC, number 5 Alabama vs. number 14 LSU is probably the big ticket game though number 6 Kentucky vs. number 13 Tennessee could be a good show too.
Actually, I take that back. The SEC is full of big games this weekend as number 2 Georgia is also facing number 10 Mississippi. Forget the Big Ten, the SEC is the place to be this weekend. That's four big ranked match ups. Would you expect anything less from the SEC?
Finally, the other big game of the weekend is number 1 Miami vs. number 11 Notre Dame. This could be a really good game and though Vegas gives the nod to the Fighting Irish, you just never know!
