Still Undefeated

The past two years have been a bit of a historic run for the Nebraska volleyball team. While last year didn't end up the way they had hoped, it was still impressive what they were able to do through the regular season. This season almost seems to be a mirror of last season, but hopefully it turns out a little better this time around.
If you haven't been following along, The Cornhuskers are sitting at the top of the NCAA rankings with a perfect record on the season. Their 19 and 0 record is a testament to the commitment that the coaches and players have put into this team. They have been building something special there in Nebraska, and like I said, hopefully this year it pays off for them.
Jumping over to softball for just a second, my niece played three more games over the past weekend. The first one was against Virginia Tech and unfortunately, they got absolutely hammered losing something like 30 to I don't even know what. My niece said it was a good game despite the score. They didn't make many mistakes, it's just that the Hokies were hitting a ton of home runs.
However, on Sunday they had a double header against Ferrum College and they won both of those games. She said she wasn't hitting as well as she had liked, but she did well in the field, so that is good.
Anyway, back to volleyball. Nebraska is in the top spot of course, with Pitt still right behind them in second and Kentucky at 3rd. Wisconsin takes the number four spot with Florida down at number five and SMU right behind them at 6. Louisville sits at 7, TCU is in 8th, and BYU holds the 9th spot.
Another Big Ten team rounds out the top 10 with Oregon and then Vanderbilt at 11th and Texas at 12th. UCLA is 13th, Penn State 14th, Washington 15th, and finally Purdue at 16th.
You might wonder why I am stopping at 16 teams instead of the regular 25? Well, the reason is because the season is winding down and we are starting to get an idea of who is going to be included in the tournament come the beginning of December. I know that still seems like a ways away from us, but it is just around the corner. Especially after you consider the conference tournaments that need to be played.
The conference tournaments will be held at the end of November.
Despite the season winding down, we still have a lot of volleyball to be played. Can Nebraska stay perfect? Only time will tell!
