This is not okay

There were a few surprises on Saturday during the college football games. Unfortunately for me, none of them were really that good. While everyone was anticipating the big game between number 2 Georgia and number 6 Alabama, a few other schools had some big plans of their own.
I was really hoping Michigan State might be able to pull out a win against Illinois. I guess I should be a little happy with the fact that they forced the game into overtime, but with Illinois beating them by two points, I don't have much faith in MSU finishing the year with a winning record. Given they have a new coach and a bit of a new look, that was the hope, but it is slowly starting to fade.
I was taking a look at the rest of their schedule on Saturday as the game was winding down, and with a record of 2-4 and maybe only one or two teams they have a hope of beating remaining, it looks like it is going to be a lackluster year for Coach Fitzgerald. He will likely get a bit of grace given this is his first year, but they are going to have a lot of stuff to work on in the off season.
That's right, I'm already moving on to the off season for the Spartans. The good news is, we are only about a month away from basketball season starting up.
As for the rest of the field, the biggest upset of the weekend came at the hands of Oklahoma taking down number 1 Texas 27 to 24. There were actually quite a few close games this past weekend. That game between number 7 Indiana and Nebraska that saw the Hoosiers winning 20 to 17 was a really great game.
North Carolina had a nice upset win over number 25 Pittsburgh 21 to 17 as well.
Then we have South Carolina adding insult to injury beating number 16 Florida 38 to 19. What looked like it was going to be an amazing game next weekend against Texas and Florida has now become a pretty lame bill. Texas has dropped down to number 7, and Florida is out of the top 25 all together.
Number 21 UCLA had a bit of a stunning upset victory over number 13 Oregon 17 to 15, and Kentucky had a thrilling overtime victory against number 10 LSU 35 to 34.
The Big Georgia/Bama game ended with the Bulldogs holding off the Tide 20 to 17, and that was pretty much the end of the weekend for college football. Obviously, there were a few controversial calls here and there. I think these days you can pick just about any game and there will be at least one or two things that should or shouldn't have been called.
It just seems to be the way things are these days.
I know I wasn't too happy about some of the calls against the Spartans on Saturday, but they also did a lot of damage to themselves as well.
