I was mostly right yesterday as Club Brugge took a fairly easy win but went a bit too hard on une Zulte Team Total under which made me give back a large part of the profit from the other bets. The good thing is that I'm back enjoying the football and i'm looking to get back in the green. 4 matches today so here are the previews...
Mechelen vs Genk
Mechelen mamaned to pick up their results with a 5-1 win in the cup against Eupen, a 4-3 win against stvv, and a 0-0 draw away against Lommel. The cup win was against a lower league team, the 4-3 agains stvv was flattering, and the 0-0 against Lommel were 2 teams who did not want to get a goal against in a match where they were the slight better team. Overall, they remain a team on my lost to oppose especially of they are the favorite. In the last home match they played against a top team, they tried to keep things closed in the back most of all but they got the 0-1 against and were unable to pose much danger. So with the need to take point, I kind of expect them again more defensively on the counter today at least starting the match that way. Their match last weekend was postponed and I see that working against them as it likely broke the momentum. I would be rather surprised if they came out full offense against Genk. The visitors managed to pick up their results with 2 wins in a row also thanks to Heymans who came in the team but now is suspended. Their performances however have been rather mediocre. They were rather fortunate that Standard took red early and got under pressure with 11 vs 10 after taking the lead but in the end when it was needed still managed to make the 2-1. In their last home macth against Kortrijk who are weak they managed to score early finishing at 100% and did not push but instead controlled the match afterward also playing with 11 vs 10 in the 2nd half. I expect 2 teams today who will be most focused on the result and crawl back in case they take the lead. Mechelen at home has 0.74-0.91-0.55xg created in their last 3 matches & Genk so far away has been at 1.96-0.4-1.3-0.54xg created. I took a cautious bet of 0.2 units on
1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.840 along with 0.1 unit on
Under 2.75 @ 2.060. I do think Genk is in a way better position to take the win but need a -0.25 line for it to be worth the risk. I also expect the team to score first to crawl back which might give some good corner betting opportunities in-game.
Standard vs Kortrijk
Standard in the last 4 matches was left with a 0 on 12 but it was against 4 good teams (Genk, AA Gent, Charleroi, Westerlo). Their coach is a bit cornered and went from a more open style to again focus first on defence which got them 1-0 behind in a super boring match after wich he switched way more offensive despite playing with 10 which paid off as they managed to make the 1-1. In the end though they didn't hold but it kind of showed that they are just better off playing more forward. It remains to be seen what way of play he choose but I would not be surprised to see Standard take the initiative again at home and play forward like in many of their previous home matches which got them to creating 1.51-3.42-1.15-2.59xg. However, they are also the big -1 favorite with a team total line of 1.75 so there is not much in that since there is also the chance that they go more defensive or get a counter against and are unable to come back. Kortrijk is a team who did not play last week and are left with 7 losses and 1 win at home with 1-0 against Beveren. 3 of their 4 away matches so far also have been against top teams and usually for them it goes a similar way that what they put up on the pitch does not look bad especially at the start but they are unable to create much and always at some point screw up. Basically, I see a match where Standard takes the initiative and goes forward from the start and where Kortrijk lures more on the counters. The home matches of Standard against Antwerp & La Louviere for me are reference matches and those ended the 1st half at 6-3 & 5-1 corners so I like Standard on the 1H corners handicap. Anderlecht vs Westerlo
Anderlecht is somewhat in a crisis as they have too many players who are all of ok quality without many standing out on top which leaves their coach doing a lot of rotation each time. At times they show good things but it just hasn't been consistant enough. Last week against AA Gent they pretty much got crushed on the counter and lost 4-0 in a match where it looked at the start that they were in a good spot to win as they also created good chances. previously though, their defense was quite an ok part rarely giving away more than 1 xg. They also were eliminated in the Cup, played a good match in Europe and Won against Cercle despite playing a horrible match. So they are a team who can play good and lose or play bad and win and my main take on them is to not back them as the favorite and potentially oppose them when they are a big favorite. Westerlo if anything has been an over team who both are capable of scoring goals but also tend to get goals against which made them go 7W-2L against their over handicaps with an average at home of 6 goals and away of 3.75 goals. They have been unbeaten for a while and are coming off a crazy 4-4 match at home against Waasland which they should have won. This is a match where I'm willing to back the underdog as an outright away win would not come as a huge surprise. The question is if I want to back them with higher stakes on the handicap or with lower stakes on the higher odds selection. I have split my bets between 0.25 units on

Beveren vs Union SG
Union last weekend woth with 6-2 against Cercle in a match where they were rather poor in the 1st half but still came back from 0-2 behind also thanks to the fact that Cercle Brugge always screws up and took a red card. They won in Europe against Hapoel, qualified in the cup against an amateur team and the week before they had an off day against a good OHL only playing 1-1 at home in a match they could have lost. So they are a team who are capable to blow the opponent away but they also more regularly seem to be having off matches or at least part of the match not play their best which makes them hard to bet on. Beveren had a long-lasting home unbeaten record which was cracked by lommel and they pretty much lost all their away games. They haven't really facted the strongest opponents yet at home though and I'm not comfortable to oppose union. Beveren has yet to lose a 1st half at home and Union only managed to win 1 of their away 1st halves. Beveren at home against Anderlecht lost the corners with 1-2 while Union last week against Cercle won their corners with 13-1, so in case Beveren would somehow take the lead, I might be willing to take a somewhat elevated handicap on the Union corners.
