2 Matches tonight with one in the Belgian League that was postponed because of bad weather and one in the Champions League of Club Brugge. So time to get to work and do the proper previews on them...

Kortrijk vs Mechelen

Kortrijk is still last but they kind of managed to turn things around a bit as the 4 points they took came in the last 3 matches. The win they took was at home against Beveren who is the worst away team so far and it was a match where they played 11 vs 10 being unable to get much done on the counters. Against Genk they lost 3-0 after getting some early goals against and getting a red card against Genk who never really pushed in the 2nd half at a comfortable lead. Finally against a rather weak Standard away they did manage to take a 1-1 draw in a match where Kortrijk was not horrible. So signs of improvement for them but not to the extent where I'm willing to really throw money at it. Mechelen had a horrible start of the season but now have climbed their way up with 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 matches. They played a 0-0 away draw against Lommel in a match where both teams focused on defense without taking any risk. They were overall ok and the slight better team in that match. Against Stvv they got a flattering results with a 4-3 Home win despite just 0.74xg and my notes said still to possibly oppose them. Last week, they somehow managed to win at home against Genk with 1-0 and a just 0.31xg with a goal out of nowhere and Genk not good enough to make the difference. I also stated 'oppose Mechelen' in my notes. I kind of hoped for them to be the favorite today against Kortrijk with a -0.25 line to oppose them but they were at a +0 line and since the line moved toward a -0.25 favorite for Kortrijk which kind of is typical for the market now. At current price, I'm more pushed toward backing Mechelen as the underdog but I'm just going to stay away. I would be surprised to see a wide-open match with high efficiency and much rather see a match where both are affriad of the counter and don't have the best finishing I took 0.1 unit each on Under 2.75 @ 1.909 & 1st Half Under 1 @ 2.150

PSV vs Club Brugge

My main angle on this match is that the gap between the top Belgian Teams and the top teams from the Netherlands has closed. One of the differences is that the opponents in the league in the Netherlands are a joke which is why PSV won 7-0 over the weekend agains Willem 2. Club Brugge continues to impress in the Champions League and have climbed to spot 14 of best European Teams in the rankings. PSV is quite the offensive team who wants to go forward which is a style that also suits Club Brugge who are deadly on the break. The media here in Belgium calls Club Brugge 'the favorite' which kind of scares me a bit. However, I took early 0.2 units on Club Brugge +0.25 @ 2.063 & 0.1 unit on Over 3.5 @ 1.915. The odds moved a bit since and I added 0.1 unit each on Club Brugge 1H +0.25 @ 1.813 & Club Brugge +0.5 @ 1.967. I'm looking forward to this match and will see where it goes before maybe taking some more on the over or hedging out on the Club Brugge as the underdog position.
