Gameweek 7 Recap: 62 Points and Haaland Delivers Big
1 min readFootball
Locked in my squad backing Haaland against Ipswich, and the gameweek couldn't have gone much better.
Final score: 62 points, well above the 55-point average this week, and a genuine step forward after a solid but unspectacular start to the season.
Haaland was exactly the captain I needed, finishing with 26 points as City ground out a tougher-than-expected 3-2 win. But the real story of this week was the depth — Calvert-Lewin chipped in 9, Groß added 5, and even my bench contributed, with Kostoulas coming off for 12 and Verbruggen adding 6 from the bench GK slot.
Virgil, Bruno Fernandes, Belloumi, Bogle, Araujo and Szoboszlai all picked up something too, which is exactly the kind of week you want — not relying on one or two players to do all the heavy lifting.
Tarkowski, Schuster and Schade all blanked, but with everything else firing, it barely mattered this week.
My Last Man Standing pick (Man City) survived the same weekend too, so this was genuinely one of the better gameweeks of the season so far across the board.
Onto Gameweek 8.
