My Gameweek 7 Squad — Backing Haaland to Deliver Big
2 min readFootball

Locked in my team for this gameweek and feeling good about the shape of things going into a weekend with some genuinely favorable fixtures.
Haaland is the captain and leads the line and it wasn’t a close call. Man City host Ipswich at home and given how ruthless City have been all season, this feels like exactly the sort of game where he puts up a big number. I’ve got Virgil van Dijk as vice-captain, but I’d be surprised if I need him.
Calvert-Lewin gets the nod for a home tie against Man United up top with Haaland – not the glamor pick, but the matchup works in his favor.
Midfield are taking some risks this week. Szoboszlai is flagged with an injury concern and Schade is showing the same warning against Liverpool so I’ll be watching the team news closely before kickoff. Bruno Fernandes and Groß complete a midfield I’m pretty confident in anyway.
Virgil and Araujo both have Brentford away defensively, Tarkowski’s up against Chelsea at home and Bogle gets Man United at home too – a fairly solid back line on paper.
The bench is mostly budget cover and Schuster and Schade are both carrying flags there as well so there's a real chance of some late shuffling before the deadline if those fitness concerns don't clear up.
If the flagged players are fit, my gut feeling is that this is a strong week. Crossing fingers on team news.
