Carrick will be gone in the AM.
Where do I even start.
There are guttless performances and then there is what we watched over at Como. You might as well have fielded retirees and they would have offered more in the game. The Manchester United players just don't look bothered in the slightest.
I guess, as fans, we should have seen this coming. While I am not justifying the shitty performances by the players, I believe there is a reason for it. The club has constantly promised to improve the squad significantly, to make it competitive over the years, but failed to do so. Bruno, for instance, has at some point mentioned this. Yet, years down the line and we have most of the same failed players still hanging about.
I believe the current apathy by the players, especially the senior squad, is partly due to that. The other part is absolutely because of Carrick's average (some will argue below average) performances as manager. He looks clueless standing on the side of the pitch. His press conferences are a borefest. There is no charisma. There is no passion. Just a man who is happy to have ticked a box on his wish list that he became Manchester United manager. I have never been more thoroughly dissapointed in the club I love.
But while I expect Carrick to get sacked soon, I also would love it if the club finally let go of the senior members of this squad. They are absolutely damaged goods. Maguire, Shaw, Dalot, Martinez, Mount, Mazroui, Rashford, and yes, even my darling Bruno Fernandes. IT IS TIME TO GO!
Don't renew any of their contracts expiring in the summer. Sell those still under contract. Clean house and turn the club's attention to the new lads in the team. The Leny Yoro's, Ayden Heaven etc.
That is the only way Manchester United will reset the culture. As for the coach, I am absolutely clueless. But what I do know is that we need an established manager. No more jobs for the boys.
