Clash of the Undefeated
What I think will be one of the best boxing matches of the year has apparently already been set for 2027, as the Japanese “monster” Naoya Inoue is reportedly set to face off against Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez in what I hope will be a bout full of power, strategy, and great boxing. Both fighters are undefeated; the Japanese fighter has a record of 33 fights (27 KOs), and Jesse has 24 (17 KOs). Naoya hadn’t tasted the canvas until recently, which I find incredible for a boxer.
I think this is a fight the boxing world wants to see, because, let’s be honest, every time the Japanese fighter steps into the ring, it’s a spectacle to watch him fight. That’s just how he is—he’s strong, fast, and forceful. Naoya has devastating power in his hands, which makes him very dangerous to face. For his part, Jesse is a boxer who could also give Naoya a run for his money; if he has a well-defined strategy and plan and executes it perfectly, he could end up coming out on top on fight night.
According to reports, the fight could be set at 55.3 kg, with the title in that weight class on the line. Inoue, who has been taking a break since his victory over Junto Nakatami, is reportedly considering moving up a weight class to explore new territory in another division.

For his part, Jesse, who defeated Antonio Vargas to win the title in that weight class in June of this year—a victory that made him a champion in three different weight classes—means we’ll have to wait and see how negotiations unfold, and hope that the Japanese fighter doesn’t decide to move up a weight class before his potential fight against Jesse.
If Inoue does move up in weight, he would already have a rival in his quest for a fifth world championship in different weight classes. Personally, I’d love to see this fight between two undefeated boxers, as I believe both are very strong and it would be a true clash of titans in the ring. Both are powerful and have great boxing style; both will be putting their undefeated records on the line, which would be a huge draw for fans eager to witness a war in the ring.
For now, it’s reported that negotiations to make this fight happen are going well, so everything seems to indicate that an agreement will be reached and we’ll be able to enjoy watching these two gladiators in the ring. Personally, I think the Japanese fighter has the advantage because of his strength, but in sports, anything can happen—and we’re well aware of that.
