OLD TRAFFORD IN SHOCK! BOURNEMOUTH HUMILIATE MAN UNITED AGAIN BUT HOW DEEP DOES THIS CRISIS GO?
4 min readFootball
What exactly is happening at Manchester United?
Another match. Another painful result. And this time, Bournemouth walked into Old Trafford and walked out with a 3–0 victory. No last-minute rescue, no dramatic comeback, no excuse about a narrow defeat. Just three goals conceded and another afternoon United supporters would rather forget.
But let's be fair: this was not simply a case of Bournemouth getting lucky. The Cherries came with a plan, took advantage of United's mistakes and punished them when the opportunities arrived.
In the 38th minute, Rayan finished from Justin Kluivert's free-kick to give Bournemouth the lead. Just five minutes later, Leny Yoro's costly slip helped Adrien Truffert set up Marcus Tavernier for the second.
Two goals before half-time. Two blows that left United with a mountain to climb.
And this is where the questions begin. At home, with the pressure already building, how does a team allow a match to unravel so quickly? One defensive mistake can happen to any side. But when errors keep turning into goals, you have to question the organisation, concentration and confidence of the entire team.
United had more of the ball, but having possession and controlling a match are not the same thing. You can pass from side to side, accumulate touches and still fail to create the kind of chances that genuinely frighten an opponent.
Bournemouth were more direct and more dangerous when the openings appeared. Evanilson made it 3–0 in the 71st minute after goalkeeper Senne Lammens came off his line and the forward got around him before finishing from distance.
That goal killed the contest.
Possession is a statistic. Goals are the argument. And on this afternoon, Bournemouth had the stronger argument.
Rayan opened the scoring, Tavernier doubled the advantage and Evanilson delivered the final blow. Three different scorers, one emphatic away victory.
Sometimes the smaller headline is the bigger story: Bournemouth didn't need to dominate possession to dominate the result.
Another talking point was Bruno Fernandes starting on the bench and remaining unused. Carrick described the decision as a footballing one, but when the team loses 3–0, every decision becomes part of the debate.
Was leaving the captain out the right call? Would Fernandes have changed the outcome? We cannot know. What we can say is that United looked short of answers, and the manager urgently needs to find some.
Changing the manager might become the easiest decision for the club to make. But if the deeper problems involve recruitment, confidence, tactical organisation and individual errors, a new face alone will not magically fix everything.
How many fresh starts can one club have before the real problems are confronted?
Right now, the bigger concern isn't just the scoreline. It's the feeling that United are struggling to find a reliable answer when things go wrong.
And Bournemouth? They have every reason to enjoy this one.
2\. Was leaving Bruno Fernandes on the bench a mistake, or are United's problems much bigger than one player?
3\. Is Bournemouth's 3–0 victory more about their excellent execution or United's alarming mistakes?
4\. United fans, what is the biggest problem right now: the manager, the players, or the club's overall direction?

THE FOUR-MINUTE COLLAPSE
For much of the first half, the score remained 0–0. Then came the turning point. In the 38th minute, Rayan finished from Justin Kluivert's free-kick to give Bournemouth the lead. Just five minutes later, Leny Yoro's costly slip helped Adrien Truffert set up Marcus Tavernier for the second.

EVEN 63% POSSESSION COULDN'T SAVE UNITED
Here is the interesting part: Manchester United had around 63% possession, yet Bournemouth won 3–0.United had more of the ball, but having possession and controlling a match are not the same thing. You can pass from side to side, accumulate touches and still fail to create the kind of chances that genuinely frighten an opponent.

BOURNEMOUTH DESERVE THEIR FLOWERS
Let's not make this all about United's failures. Bournemouth deserve serious credit for the way they approached the game. They stayed dangerous, exploited mistakes and showed the composure to finish their chances.Rayan opened the scoring, Tavernier doubled the advantage and Evanilson delivered the final blow. Three different scorers, one emphatic away victory.

AND WHAT ABOUT MICHAEL CARRICK?
The pressure on Carrick is growing, and this result will only intensify the questions about his future. United had also suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat away to Como in midweek, making the Bournemouth loss even harder to swallow.Another talking point was Bruno Fernandes starting on the bench and remaining unused.
