County final weekend

We did it.
We made it all the way back to the county final again after leaving the trophy behind us last year.
Now it's time for hats, scarves and headbands again. The flags are up all over the parish and we've been put on a drinking ban since the semi final last weekend.
That's dedication for the level that we're playing at. The semi final was tough but we were the better team overall. It was right in the mix for the first 50 minutes but our team just has that extra bit of skill and determination when the game was in the balance.
It was a cold wet Friday night which suits our team a little bit as an older group of players. We figured out that the starting back three was 128 years old which is impressive in itself.
The battle was fierce and even for the first 50 minutes but w were always a couple of points ahead. Then they got a lucky goal with ten minutes to go and went a point up. That seemed to drive us on to a new level and we outscored them 1-4 to 0-1 for the next ten minutes and book our place back in the final for the second year in a row.
Not a bad achievement for a bunch of old guys patched together with tape and physio.
Tomorrow will be a tough, tough day out. Ennistymon were the hardest team we faced last year playing them twice with a draw and a one point win. They are so young and so fit compared to us but they don't have the same level of hurling or hunger.
That's what makes it so interesting. It's a total contrast of styles and mentality. We are old, play long and fight hard to win the ball every time. They are young, quick, play it out wide for the runners and try to outrun every team they face.
We can't outrun the. We know that so we have to outfight them. Make it a dirty game, hard fought ball, make every move pressurized and get into their heads early. Don't let them settle into their game.

It's there to be won if we can do that and it would be so hard to lose two years in a row.
I don't know if i'll get any minutes but we have a panel for a reason and everybody has to be ready for that fight tomorrow.
